Here’s my David Lindley & Jackson Browne story and how I got this picture. You know as a musician you have different parts in your music life and 1976 I was 19 listen very much to Johnny Winter, Johnny were my big hero of the seventies and Deep Purple. I couldn’t pick Johnny’s solos out but some of Ritchie Blackmores melodic stuff I learn. One evening I was sitting in my room worked hard to learn the guitar solo on Deep Purples Highway star. My Mother told me that my boss (from the musicstore were I worked) were in the telephone. He says: Hi it’s Eric you must go to the shop and open for some roadies to get a grand piano from the shop.
- Hey Eric I have a lot of things to do tonight why cant you go.
-No way, I’m at Kåren (a small concert hall) to see Jacksson Browne and they can’t use Kårens grand piano, I’m drunk and left the keys home, so you better run. If you don’t, you have problem next time you need a guitar, come on I buy you a drink when you get here.
I had no choice and who were that Browne playing at Kåren, small place, must be some local hero.
I met the roadies and they get the Grand Piano out, it took probably an hour. I was asked to go and see the concert, but I turned it down told them that I had important things to do (I had to finish that Blackmore solo).

Two years after that I saw a concert with Jackson Browne on TV and I was very impressed of that guitar player in the band who played slide on piece of wood in his knee.
I bought the Running on empty album and I was lost to Lindleys Lapsteel. The next album I bought were Hold Out (my favorite J.B. album) more great Lindley and I fell in love in Rosemarie Buttler, her voice still gives my shivers.

Lindley release his first solo album with Mercury Blues, It really knocks me of. He was in a Swedish TV show with the El Rayo X, playing Mercury Blues. He played so aggressive and in the same time smiling like a child.
First Time I met David were -82 with the El Rayo X. I showed him two weird German guitars from the sixties and he loved them and he want to buy them, but I told him that I just want to show them for him, not sell them. He smile and said, people come and trying to sell guitars to me were ever I go and you come here with a guitar that I want to buy and you don´t sell it, I like that. Then He asked me if I could find a "Mother of toilet seat (plastic pearloid) Hagström" guitar for him the next time he come to Sweden. I did, so when he got back -84 I gave him a white pearloid Hagström guitar from 1958, in exchange I want you to tell me how to play slide like Joe Walsh. He told me that he would hear me play, because you need to have some kind of two hearts to play slide like Joe. So we were playing little blues and then he say I think you can make it, but don’t rush it takes time. He showed a lot of tricks how you damp the strings while you playing, which finger that was the right to wear the slide for me. Now, go home pick the notes from Joe that you want to play, learn the slow ones first. I did, It took a summer.

A couple of years from that an American came in to the shop said, Hi My name is Henry and I’m gone play in town tonight, I need a 110v transformer (we have 220v) to my equipment and my friend David told me that you were the guy who have it.
I had and he rent it and got back, I ask him who told him that I got the transformer. David, David Lindsay. So he remember me. Yes his daughter Rossane always play that white Hagström guitar you gave him so he remember you.

Mars -97 Lindley were in Stockholm with Jackson Browne on a tour with only them on stage. So I went there and one roadie I was touring with in the eighties were there tourmanager for Scandinavia. I asked him to tell David I was there, he come back and told me that David would like to meet me after the show.
I go to his dressing room after the show and he was very glad to see me again and I had another guitar for him a Dynelectron Longhorn made in Italy in the mid seventies. That guitar is a copy of an Danelectro that were made in the states in the sixties. But they’re not copies like the japanese guitars were. An Italian company bought the Danelectro company that went bankrupt in -69, so these guitars are very after sought buy collectors over there, but not many knows about them. So I gave that guitar to him told him that I owe him that for the slide lessons he gave me -84 and I told him the story about the Italian company who bought the American company.

After a while Jackson Browne came in to Davids dressing room, he saw the guitar and said, hey! cool longhorn guitar what is it? David replays It’s an Dynelectron. - Looks like a Danelectro to me says J.B. why it’s called Dynelectron.
Like a father teaching his son David starts telling Jackson: Jackson didn’t you know that an Italian company bought the original Danelectro company and ship all the machines over to Italy and start manufactured the guitars over there.
JB: Never heard about it.
DL: Neither do I, until this gentleman told me.
JB: You gonna buy it
DL: No, every time I come to Sweden Mr. Nysse gives me a guitar, let me introduce you to Mr. Nysse
Jackson took my hand and said, Hi I’m Jackson.
DL: Last time I were here I got that white Hagström that Rossane love and play.
I said, so that’s true, Henry Kaiser told me that five years ago.
Yes she really loves it.
Yes she does said Jackson and she knows that I want that guitar .

Then we sat down and talk a lot about music, guitars and gigs and I asked Jackson if he remember his first gig in Stockholm if something special happen. It was -76 Oh yeah, the grand piano, were you in the audience? No I was home listen to Deep Purple and my boss called me and told me to go to the shop because someone called Jackson something needed a grand Piano. I told him the whole story and he laugh and thank me for putting him in front of Deep purple. He also wrote a thanks note to Eric (my old boss), I’m holding that note on the picture. I asked David if it was okey with him if we took a oicture of him and me and Jacksom said, I wanna be there to. It was a great evening for me.
The Picture were taking by a girl that were there with them.

If Joe is my number one hero, David is number two and if you see Rossane Lindley plays a white pearloid guitar you know were she get it from.
